More Action, Less Thought

Lifelong learning

It suddenly occurred to me that I should keep track of all the things I would like to have learnt growing up, which I think would make my life richer and better today. This is really for the benefit of my children in future, and of course to encourage myself to incorporate these things in my daily life.

I thought about the USP initiative to encourage critical thinking in its students, which is great, but I think the program would have been much more effective if we had a basic course covering the main tenets of philosophy and a list of essential works, with which we would have a strong foundation to build upon and a framework within which we can examine issues. What exactly does this mean? More details to follow.

I would also like to be even better at English and write more. Knowing one language extremely well allows you to pick up other languages easily.

I would like to have been involved in the kitchen more as a kid. Probably baking would be most interesting and fun for kids. I really enjoyed baking with Alli, as she must have with her dear mother Opal.
